End of Module Evaluation

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I have learned to blog this year even if I'm not the best of at it, I struggled at first, but I feel I am slowly getting the hang of it. It's just difficult getting into the swing of things, but I feel I am documenting my work well. I have also learned the basics on Illustrator which has enables me to create several pieces of work so far, I have even been doing my own work in my spare time.

2. What approaches to/methods of idea generation have you devloped and how have they informed your design development process?

I have tried a few different methods of idea generating, such as coming up with quick fire ideas in different time periods, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 20 seconds etc, this has helped to come up with loads of ideas in a short space of time. I also research other designers work to get inspiration.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how/will you capitalize on these?

I am not too bad on illustrator and I am quite happy with the work I have produced so far. The work I have created on Illustrator has been of a good quality I feel and I am learning new techniques regularly. I will keep experimenting to progress my skills.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

I feel my main weakness is my lack of research, I need to research more and make use of the library, this would definitely improve my work I feel. My time management skills are not the best either, I need to plan my time better so I don't fall behind, this includes booking print slots.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

  1. Research More - This will ensure I am more informed about my project and hopefully will help with inspiration to improve my work.
  2. Plan my time better - This will make sure I am not rushed through each brief.
  3. Blog more Regularly - I seem to get a build up of work because I don't blog every day, I will try blog more often so I don't have heavy workloads.
  4. Book Print Slots - This will be beneficial to me if i book in advance, as I was rushed last week and only just managed to get my stuff printed.
  5. Use the library more - at the moment I just use the internet for research, hopefully books and magazines will give me a broader range of research.

Titing Around on Illustrator

I took inspiration from the work of Tang You Hoong, I tried creating a toadstool house on a floating bit of rock, the smoke from the chimney has created a galaxy, I think the colour ruins the design I feel. The black silhouette works much better.

Tang Yau Hoong

I came across the work of Tang Yau Hoong online, I really like his illustration style all his images are bold and eye catching. His work is also clever, some of his work has an image within an image, giving it two meanings.I really like the use of colour in his work too. They are soft and easy on the eyes which is a good quality.
